Welcome!

I’m Ka’Daar but you can also call me Kay !

I believe in the importance of radical acceptance and meeting oneself where you are, rather than striving for perfection. My practice emphasizes that growth arises through accountability, learning from mistakes, and maintaining the willingness to try again. I approach therapy as a collaborative process that honors both the client’s lived experience and the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for change.

How I Can Help

In our sessions, you can expect a holistic, evidence-based approach to therapy, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) mindfulness skills to help you prioritize your emotional/psychological well-being and address your unique concerns and needs. My approach is grounded on helping you identify unhelpful thinking patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and foster greater self-compassion and balance in your daily life.

Together, we will focus on holding space for uncomfortable emotions and experiences, creating an environment where you can explore vulnerability with safety and intention. I view discomfort not as something to be avoided, but as an opportunity for growth and transformation. My work remains solution-focused, helping clients navigate life’s challenges while cultivating self-awareness and empowerment to achieve greater clarity in relationships with self-included.

Professional Background

My diverse experiences and education have fueled my passion for supporting others.

Here’s a glimpse into how my background equips me to support you effectively on your journey.

How I Got Here

My path to becoming a therapist began with being a lover of community and learning from others around me. I am inspired by finding my “why” and my “purpose” while also helping others do the same. I go by the motto “pay It forward,” as the work done with you the client, doesn’t just benefit YOU the person, but the community. These values are deeply personal to me, as my own community has selflessly provided space for me to grow and heal. In turn, it is both my privilege and purpose to be of service to others to help them find strength, healing, and connection within themselves and their communities. Over the years, I have approached therapy as a healing environment, guided by values of community, grace, authenticity, and resilience. I deeply believe in the power of community and the idea that healing does not happen in isolation. None of us can do it alone. The presence of a supportive “village” has profoundly shaped my own journey, and it is my mission to extend that same sense of safety, compassion, and belonging to those I work with.

Education & Training

I hold a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Mount St. Mary’s University, where I specialized in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, I have completed Seeking Safety and Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) training, which further enhanced my expertise in providing interventions that are evidenced based interventions for those who suffer from trauma.
